February 3, 2000 -- At the Winter NAMM show, Parker Guitars will introduce a new member of their Fly family of guitars. The Parker Hardtail is a non-vibrato guitar with a number of special treatments.
The Hardtail® features a basswood body, selected specifically for its low-end response. Its dappled stealth-gray finish and all-black hardware give the Hardtail its distinctive look and feel. A non-vibrato bridge, in a patented die-cast aluminum housing, provides solid tuning and sustain.
Two custom DiMarzio® pickups are fastened directly into the body. Each string also drives its own custom Fishman® Piezo pickup. These piezos sense every part of the string's vibration.
Other unique features of the Hardtail include the Sperzel® D-Tuner, which allows mid-performance tuning changes on-the-fly, and jumbo stainless steel frets.
Like all members of the Fly family of guitars, the Hardtail neck is constructed from a solid piece of basswood. The union of the body and neck is seamless, with a veil of reinforcing glass fibers overlaid to create a tri-axial fibre reinforcement.
The Parker line includes the Parker Fly and NiteFly, both solid-body electrics equipped with custom Fishman piezoelectric and DiMarzio magnetic pickups. The company offers two solid-body acoustic guitars, the steel-stringed Fly Concert and the nylon-stringed Spanish Fly. The company recently introduced the MidiFly.
