Premier retour de cette BASS VI :
"OK Guys, it arrived earlier today. First impressions, a well made, nice sounding instrument, hampered by the low E (as we all suspected).
On this particular instrument, the low-E rattles a lot (and the bridge is already set pretty high) and just doesn't have the tension that I was hoping for. It's better than the low-E on my Jag Bari, but not by much. The rest of the instrument is great, the pickups sound warm without sounding muddy. The semi-controversial bridge pickup sounds quite nice with a bit of gain (better than the Fender demo portrays) but I can't see myself choosing to use the bridge pickup clean as it is. Bridge and middle pickup together though sounds pretty good and gives the sound a bit of extra bite. Cosmetically the only negative I have is the tort guard looks cheap. The finish is flawless and it feels substantial. All in all, a potentially great affordable VI, let down by the decision to use the lighter gauge strings (why Fender why??) So now I need to see if I can get a set with a .095 low E on there without too much trouble and hopefully rectify Fender's mistake ; )
Interested to hear others views when they start to come in.
(Disclaimer: Never played a real VI, own a Jag Bari. Played through a crappy solid state guitar amp (my bass rig is in our practice room) "
