The first three Oasis albums were written while Noel Gallagher was on drugs, the guitarist said in an interview.
Speaking to Spin magazine, Noel said all the songs he wrote before 1997 were helped by cocaine or, as he calls it, "the old Colombian marching gear".
The musician told the publication: "I remember being off my nut and going into the back room and setting the goal of writing a song in ten minutes - that was 'Supersonic'."
He also revealed that he was into drugs before he joined the band and he believes the illicit substances are the reason the early songs are so good.
But despite this frustrating him, Noel told the magazine he will not return to his wild ways, despite the occasionally thought that it could be "brilliant again".
