Héhé, je vois que Pakyie est aussi impatient que moi !
Sinon, j'ai finalement reçu la réponse à mes questions adressées à Kustom, des réponses plutôt complètes et soigneuses ma foi, c'est agréable !

Hello,
I have several questions concerning the new Defender combo, which I might be
buying soon... That'd be nice if you could answer them. Thanks in advance!
1) I have read there is a switch that allows swapping the EL34s for 6L6s.
Does that also mean no bias adjustment is needed ? what about replacing the
EL34s by other EL34s (or 6L6s by other 6L6s), does it need any adjustment? Is
the Defender cathode biased?
JB) Generally the EL34s and 6L6s will work without further bias adjustment,
though some will run a little hotter than others. The Coupe and Defender
amps are 'partially' cathode biased, but they also have a small fixed bias on
the control grid. This allows them to adjust for different tubes, but
without reducing the power as much as cathode biased amps.
2) What actually happens when bypassing the master volume section? Is it the
same as turning the master volume fully clockwise and play with the single
"volume" knob afterwards (in which case the clean headroom should be at its
maximum, I assume)? i.e. is the master volume a passive control that only can
remove (or not, if set to the maximum) volume from the output section?
JB) There is a switch that disconnects the master volume. Keep in mind that
in tube amps the impedances are very high, so disconnecting that control
prevents the control from loading the previous stage(which is the high
impedance EQ). So compared to 'full up' it makes a noticeable difference in
both the volume, and the dynamic range of the sound. Maybe as much as 2dB.
3) It seems to me that there is no effects loop in there (although it
shouldn't be such a problem, as I can guess there is plenty of clean headroom
in there). Is that correct?
JB) There is no effects loop on the amp. We found that 90% of the people who
use a single channel amp don't use the effects loop. They generally use
distortion and overdrive pedals in front, and set the amp for however clean
they want, and then put any other pedals between the dist/overdrive and the
amp. So we decided to leave off that feature rather than forcing all those
people to pay for it.
