CHRISTIAN: ... And you must be more than made up with how well Paul Rodgers has got into the Queen stuff.
BRIAN: Yeah. We are actually, I’m taking the day off today, but we’re in the studio with Paul at this moment making some new stuff, which is very exciting.
CHRISTIAN: Well, how’s that going?
BRIAN: The first time…. Amazing. Really really amazing. I can hardly believe it. Yeah, we seem to work very well. Just the three of us in there at the moment being Paul and Roger, but it’s been great. Yeah, we have some new material, so yippee. (chuckle)
CHRISTIAN: And with the greatest respect, because I think you were right, you know. You were quite clear to say ‘Look, we’re not replacing Freddie, we’re just gonna get back into doing the Queen stuff and Paul’s a great singer we like’, and all the live stuff. I mean, he can, Paul is a great singer, rock and roll singer in his own right. It’s worked really well, hasn’t it?
BRIAN: He’s fabulous. He really is. He’s at the very very highest level. Yeah. It’s incredible working with him because, you know, I obviously miss working with Freddie so much...
CHRISTIAN: Yeah...
BRIAN: In Paul there‘s someone you can genuinely bounce off and he’s full of ideas and nothing is ever just glib with him. He sings everything from the heart. I’m really enjoying exploring this territory with Paul.
CHRISTIAN: So do you think you’re gonna have like a, is this like a new album of new material next year some time?
BRIAN: Absolutely. Yeah. I mean, I don’t know I’d go as far as... yeah, yeah. At the moment it’s just a few tracks and let’s see where it takes us. But, yeah, I think it may turn into a complete new studio album. The way it’s going, it’s been amazing. Really great. Yeah.
CHRISTIAN: Ah, that’s really exciting. I know a lot of the fans will be overjoyed to hear that this morning, and listen, if you guys are ever bored one morning and you fancy coming in and jamming for us on the Breakfast Show, we would love that.
BRIAN: Who are we gonna jam with? You!
CHRISTIAN: Yeah. Come in and jam with the listeners.
BRIAN: (laughs) Sounds good. Sounds good.
CHRISTIAN: I’ve got a cowbell in the studio, Brian, OK.
BRIAN: Virtuoso cowbell. OK.
CHRISTIAN: You can’t have enough cowbell on the new Queen stuff. OK.
BRIAN: Absolutely. (chuckle)
CHRISTIAN: And have you got to anywhere like a title to the new album or anything or is it just….?
BRIAN: Ah no. It’s too early for that.
