http://jvmforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=455
"clean green is new, JVM2s have post gain clean tone controls unlike the JVM4s. Clean orange and red share similar gain structure to JVM4's crunch orange and red. OD channels are based on JVM4's OD2.
[...] The JVM2's clean grean is a bit dirtier than the JVM4's clean green and it overdrives nicely when combined with power amp distortion.
The orange and red has approx the same gain as the JVM4s but the potentiometer characteristc is different so it may seem that there is less gain unless you turn the gain up to 10. In any case, the modes are not 100% the same, minor details have to be adjusted to convert a 4 channels into a 2 channel amplifier, not as easy as just simply removing 2...
Same for the ODs, JVM4 OD1 and OD2 are very similar and the OD2s blended better with the choices for the Clean/Crunch channel.
What I prefer is seeing the JVM2 as an individual amp, not a cut down version of the JVM4s, and although of course comparissons are unavoidable you already have noticed by yourself that appariences can be deceiving... you expected and OD1, you got an OD2 and still you are very happy with the tone which is what really matters.
