ROBERT FRIPP

Matériel live en 1994

Equipmnet:

The original technology for this approach to making music incorporated two Revox A77s in a system of analogue recording and playback. This approach was introduced to me by Brian Eno in 1972 (and became" No Pussyfooting") A diagram of its operation may be found on the cover of Eno's "Discreet Music". My own application of this system was called "Frippatronics".

Today two TC2290s have replaced the Revoxes. The profusion and development of effect units, and the advent of MIDI control, during the past decade have made possible proliferation of choice and oppurtunities in the moment for shaping sound.

On this tour I used:

Tokai Les Paul Guitar
Roland GR300 guitar synthesiser
Eventide 3000SE
Korg A2
TC2290 x 2
Digitech Whammy Pedal

Réponse par Buddy lui même :
"I TRY not to use ANY pedals! Sometimes I use a Dr. Z "Air Brake" power attenuator to keep the dang loud git-tar under control in the smaller, more acoustically 'live' rooms, which endears me a little more to the soundman. But only as a last resort, because I LOVE the natural tube overdrive I get from my Dr. Z amps and Scott Lentz guitar! The only pedal of any kind I used on the UK tour was a BOSS tuner (TU-2) stationed on top of my amp for a quickie tune-up between songs. Check out http://www.drzamps.com for details on the MAZ SENIOR 38 watt class 'A' amp! Details and reviews of the Scott Lentz guitars can be found at http://www.lentzguitar.com Thanks Paul..keep on pickin'!" --BW

JOHN BUTLER TRIO

John Butler

GUITARS: Late 80's Washburn D28S12; Maton ECW80C 12 string; Maton Cutaway EM425C 12 string; Maton MS100 lap steel (designed by Ben Harper). Recently he bought a couple of Larrivee guitars from Canada - which he likes a lot aswell.

Strings: JB has been playing D'Addario 10-47 strings for ages (he really likes them).
Pick-ups: Sunrise magnetic, running solo from his washburn; Maton pick-ups too.

Pedalboard: Boss Bass overdrive (ODB-3); Boss harmonist HR-2 harmoniser; Boss RV-3 digital reverb/delay; Crybaby wah; Ibanez TS8 Tube screamer.

AMP: 1974 Marshall JMP 100 watt amp.

One distinctive trait of Butler's bluesy roots-based guitar playing is the sound and style he achieves from his vast range of 12 string guitars and lap steels. "I mainly play a lot of 12-string guitars" he states. "Like I've got a couple of Matons and a Washburn 12 string acoustic. I do use a lot of C tunings like the CGCGCE tuning and a little bit of the B tuning and drop D. I also do a couple of songs in DADGAD tuning, but mostly I write in C tuning. I also play a 12-string lap steel and a little Weissenborn copy which is made by Carson Crickmore in Victoria. I usually have two pick-ups in all my guitars; one magnetic like an electric pick-up and the other a bridge or microphone pick-up near the bridge which kind of gives me the best acoustic sound. I plug that into a Fender Blender. I then take a send out from the magnetic pick-up and plug that into a volume pedal through a 1974 JMP Marshall amp which I can turn on or off."

Je l'ai vu sur canal+ (c'est le live de la semaine). Il avait un autre ampli, si quelqu'un sait ce que c'est.

JOE HOLMES (Ozzy Osbourne)

trouvé sur HRI

Roland SDE 3000
Old Marshall heads (he did use some Bogner's as well)
Fulltone Deja Vibe
MXR phase 90
Vox wah
Boss SE70
Lexicon PCM 41 (Lexicon PCM 41 NOT USED for Delay just to buffer and boost for the FX loop))

Slaved the heads into an H&H power amp and a Peavey CS800 powers amp.

Doubles of everythink in his rack.

contrôlé par système CAE (pédalier RS-10)

Guitarist Interview (UK) feb 1996

"I've got some old fender strats that i'm using; a 71, acouple of 73s and a 74. I like them because they have a big , thick maple necks which can be shaved. I then put on jumbo frets on & the radius is like my old charvels. I also have a Floyd Rose & bridge humbucker fitted - the J80 Jackson humbuckers mounted straight into the wood"

"I'm also using old Marshals; 70s cabinets with the early 70s heads, an HH power amp to run three cabinets and the old Roland SDE3000 delays. which are real warm.
I run the middle cabinet dry, one of the outer cabinets with 100milliseconds delay and the other with 250 miliseconds. It's a really thick tone and I just plug straight in with a cord, no wireless, andi can just let it feed back. I just got the Dejavibe, made by mike fuller, which sounds kinda like a Univibe and I use it on I just Want You off the new record. It's a really good psychedelic unit."

BRUCE KULICK (Kiss, Union...)

http://www.kulick.net/equip.shtml

===============================================

MGS- Can you tell us what amps, effects, guitars you used on the Kiss tours?

BK-Marshall amps and ESP guitars, sometimes some Gibson guitars and BC Rich guitars. No effects really except for a wah thing on some guitars..

===============================================

MGS- What gear are you currently using? We love details. Have you gotten into the pedal craze? Tell us about your signature guitar also.

BK-I have a cool pedal board with Boss DM-2 delay, DD3 Digital Delay, Dunlop Wah, Boss SD-1 for overdrive, Ibanez Chorus, and a MXR phase 90 type Phasor called a Maxon 50 Phaser .. very rare.. but sounds like a uni vibe. Marshall 900 series or 2000 series Amps with Vintage 30 cabinets...
Guitars have been cool LTD Vipers and Horizons, and EC-1000 style some Japan made ESP's as well. Sometimes a Gibson 2003 Standard Les Paul. Or a Fender or ESP Strat.
My signature model which is I am selling the remaining stock from my website, I have only about 6 left of the bolt-on's. They are awesome guitars cross between a SG and an Eagle design by BC Rich.
