Is Epiphone going to do anything about the lack of an Elitist type line?
I miss it badly.
Hi,
Thanks for the post and your participation.
As you may know, we currently have 1 active Elitist model. It's the Elitist Casino and it's available in Natural or Vintage Sunburst.
Regarding the line, the original plan positioned the Elitist line between our regular Epiphone line and the Gibson line. So, if a regular Epiphone LP Standard is ~$500 street, the Elitist would be ~$1,000 and the Gibson ~$2,000. However, with the fluctuation of the Yen versus the Dollar and lower pricing on some Gibson models, the Elitist line was deemed to be too expensive by most customers. Although we pushed it for several years, we failed to have many retailers carry the line and those that did, reported slow sales due to the price. The bottom line is... we just could not generate enough demand for the complete line. The production quantities for the models (other than the Casino) were so small and made production inefficient and yet again, even more costly.
I, as you, loved the line up. But, ultimately the customer makes the decision with his/her wallet. So at this time, we have no plan to further expand the Elitist line up.
BTW - If you're interested in an Elitist Casino you should pick one up soon. The prices on those are going up in early 2011.
Thanks again,
Jim Epi
