Moi, je regrette toujours qu'ils ne passent pas en Allemagne...

It sucked, mostly. I was disappointed.

Vai's band sounded very uptight & nervous. Groove was obviously not a concern for them,
as the band had some minor time issues throughout their set. Vai seemed to be in summer shape at first,
but got his stuff rolling after a while. His 2000 gig was so much more fluid. The highlights of the set
were Whispering a Prayer and FTLOG. Other than that I was disappointed by the way Vai played. He didn't
let his personal quirks & things shine through, but fell into "generic" shredding. He has the potential,
but somehow gets lost in the guitar heroics of it all. And his tunes....
those who think he's a good composer should really wake up. He earns a special mention for the fan, though.
Yup, the wind in his hair looked ridicolous.

Satriani had a way more relaxed band, the only one having issues with time was the maestro himself.
His tone was also better than Vai's. His material carried the set for about three-four songs,
and after that the obvious mediocrity of his tunes became dulling, as did the lack of dynamics in his
playing. For all those ultra-gain dudes out there: Uniform dynamics with endless sustain is very annoying
in the long run, especially if you're constantly 6dB louder than everybody else... And please Joe, stay away
from doing vocals, ok? Having Fripp do some synth-type stuff was a nice touch and fit his set well.

The jam? They could've skipped the whole thing. Their version of Red was the sloppiest I've ever heard,
and Neil's Keep on Rocking in The Free World was the lamest choice ever, being already abused to death by
gazillions of garage bands.

When it comes to Fripp, it was obivous that he didn't in fit too well with the other aging guitar gunslingers.
Well, I guess KC is not a huge money making monster, and he has to earn his living as well... His soundscapes
were good, at times very beautiful. Too bad the crowd coudn't appreciate the "different" aesthetics.

Bottom line: This was the last time for me dishing out cash to see these dudes.
It seems that their genre of guitar playing has come to a cul de sac, and will most likely die with them.
There is interesting stuff in the world, so I will not bother with these gentlemen anymore.

I was at the show in oslo last night. And it was awesome! No complaints at all.
Yes the Fripp intro could have been cut down at least 15 minutes. His "set" was basically half an hour
with guitarsynth one note swells and tons of delay. Some guy in the crowd shouted "boring!".
I find that incredebly rude, even if he was right. But as soon as Vai hit the stage the wait was
more than worth it. The Steve Vai sircus you would expect. Joe was laidback and ultra cool as always.
During the jam Robert Fripp got back on his bar-stool at the back of the stage. And to the crowds surprice,
suddenly the old man started trading ultra fast solos with the other two. I've never heard King Crimson before.
But after last nights performance of "Red" I will definetly check them out.

After the show, Vai and Satch talked to the fans and wrote autographs. Billy Sheehan and Tony MacAlpine too.
And Dave Weiner was very cool giving pelople picks and stuff. They must have done this for about 15 minutes.
These guys are so cool!
Fripp runned like hell past everybody straight into the bus. (he's supposed to be a shy guy).

Great value for the money! I'll definetly go see them again next time around.

Lenny.

(My english sucks and I know it).
